The documentary shows the struggles of the Dalits in Uttar Pradesh. The documentary is filled with symbolism that humbles you. The statue of Ambedkar is representative of the idea of upliftment of Dalits through socio-economic reforms. The idea of liberation and freedom is relayed from a different perspective. They did not consider themselves free. They were still being subjugated by the upper caste who were mercilessly beating them up and forcing them into bonded labour.
Dalit Panther's movement is shown during 1998-2001. Their groundwork is shown and how they collaborate with the government and government agencies to put forth their demands. The comradery within the community and how they deal with problems that arise. They also show their relationship with the Muslims, both of these communities are rejected and marginalised by Upper caste Hindus.
The documentary has a powerful impact through the songs that character sings or the background music. The statute of Ambedkar itself had different sizes and each time implied something different. The flow of the documentary tells a story and the protest scenes show a different aspect of society.
