Weekly Summary - 10
In the campus of HCU the students were rallying to appeal to other students to participate in Rohith Shahadat Din and against their VC who was supporting the RSS/BJP government by collectively singing music sang and created by Malayalee Dalit women. One of the songs was a song sang by Dalit women who lived in the bottom of a mountain. The song revolved around their struggles due natural calamities and poverty. The lyrics indicated to how when there is heavy rain ad their crops are ruined their children starve and no one helps with resources. The song also talks about displacement and the government displaces them from their houses and their livelihood without any thought of their well- being. They talk about collectively grief and misery born from their caste and fate and how without food and their house made out of mud ruined all they have is their tears and nothing to provide for their children or home. It is heart wrenching to listen to this music because even the wait the lyrics are being sang has sadness attached to it. It is a song where women talk to each other about their struggles without asking for a answer but just to be heard and that shows strength and and at the same time the helplessness of their situation.
